chevron and stripes quilt

I just adore this fresh new twist on the traditional Dresden Plate quilt.  My friend, Jean, took modern chevron and striped prints and turned them into four of these large-scale blocks.  She stitched them to a field of solid medium blue and then generously donated the finished quilt to Cradle Moon.  (All proceeds from Cradle Moon go to Africa Inland Mission to support my daughter and son-in-love in Lesotho.)

Isn't it fabulous?  This one-of-a-kind work of art could be hung on the wall for a instant eye-catching  focal point.  Or it would be equally stunning used as a crib quilt in a modern nursery.  I imagine any baby would be completely mesmerized by all the bright colors and bold patterns found here.  What a great tummy-time mat!  

Jean does beautiful work.  All cotton and machine quilted this piece measures over 40 inches square and has a navy blue back.  I'm pleased to offer this gorgeous quilt for sale.

Confession.

I hoard cute vintage pillow cases.

That's what I did with this pretty blue and green flower-power retro one.  I've been saving it for the perfect project.  I think I found it yesterday.

I have made several of these bags over the years.  I have one that is my go-to bag when I'm heading out the door for a trip.  I always toss in my hairdryer, hairspray, brush and makeup bag.  I just like to have them in something separate from my suitcase.  And the handle makes it easy to hang over the bathroom door while I'm packing.

I also made Hannah one, which she carried to work stuffed with her gym clothes.  Pretty sure I made Tom's mom and sisters each one, too.

It just seems to be that perfect sized bag.  And it's floppy and forgiving, allowing itself to be stuffed to the brim.  Not to mention cute.  With all those ruffles on the front, it is definitely cute!  The lining and handle are the same fabric as the outer bag.  Lacy added a crocheted flower to boost the flower power up a notch.  Perfect!

Stitched in my favorite vintage reproduction fabrics, this sweet Good Morning pillow will bring a happy smile at the start of each day.  A little blue bird, several flowers, and a tiny bumble bee combine with machine appliqué, hand embroidery, and hand quilting to make this pillow extra special!

The pillow slip is removable for laundering.  It closes in the back with a lapped, 3-button closure.

Please note.  Caps like these sell for anywhere from $10 to $25 or more on Et$y.  We're offering these newborn sized caps for $8 each.  Custom orders would be a few dollars more.  You'll need to hurry, though.  She's off to college in a few weeks and will not have time for baby crochet!!
